Thanks for the mention, jb. Indeed, this time of the year is when I face Chicago from Daytona and give a huge salute for the WLS of old, for giving us what you aptly described as "the greatest Christmas radio program of all time". A lot of folks I've met over the years question that statement when I mention the show, but but are immediately won over after they hear just how well it was done. It's Christmas day now, jb, and the cds that you made for me from the tapes are going non-stop in the house. This is one show that you never want to un-hear!

I seem to remember a Christmas weekend of 30 years ago when there were terrible storms and I was one of 4 or 5 people that could make it in to my part-time home from college for the holiday gig at WSDR Sterling-Rock Falls with studios in Sterling & Dixon. That meant from Friday evening until Sunday midnight I worked 6 hours on, 6 off. That was also the only time I'd worked a station that stayed full power day & night due to the emergency. Kind of funky, drop to night power to play a few commercials then back up to full boat to continue programming.

Most memorable was a conference phone call between myself & 2 other Plattevilleans (TCW & JR) on the air at our respective stations making radio happen that holiday....PD
