The 1982 album by The Kind featured an album cover with a headless guitarist. We played "Loved By You" on WNAM Neenah/Menasha, the station where I did some weekend and fill-in airshifts. WLS also played "Loved By You" as an album cut in August thru October 1982. The album shows up on the WLS music survey in August and September of 1982. I still have the album and I recall they did a cover version of "Stop! In the Name of Love" but we didn't play that one.

Other great songs from the fall of 1982:
"Don't Fight It" - Kenny Loggins & Steve Perry
"New World Man" -Rush
"You Keep Running Away" -.38 Special
"Everybody Wants You" -Billy Squire

Shark,
Growing up in the Midwest during that time, I vaguely remember a song by The Kind getting airplay, but I don't think it is the song you mention (and I couldn't really find anything on them on the internet).

Did they have anything else that got airplay?

Fall of 1982....all of my attention was to the baseball playoffs as my beloved Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Baltimore Orioles 10-2 on the final day of the season behind the pitching of Don Sutton and 2 home runs by eventual Most Valuable Player Robin Yount. The Brewers would come back from an 0-2 deficit to beat the California Angels to win the American League pennant. They would lose to the St. Louis Cardinals 4 games to 3 in the World Series.

Football? What football? The was NO pro football in the fall of 1982 as the NFL players union went on strike, paving the way for us basebal fans to cheer for our favorite baseball teams. Some of the songs I played on the radio in the fall of 1982 were:
"Hold On" -Santana
"Africa" - Toto
"Johnny Can't Read" - Don Henley
"American Heartbeat" -Survivor
and an album cut from a Chicago band..."Loved By You" by The Kind
