Mmm . . . Tasty

Yesterday at Taste of Madison we hung out with the Rock and Pop Masters again—Jimi Jamison from Survivor, Joe Bouchard from Blue Oyster Cult, and Pat Travers. Since I wasn’t officially introduced to any of them, I was left trying to figure out who they were among the people milling around backstage. You’d never pick Bouchard out of such a crowd—he’s a schlubby looking guy maybe five-foot-six. Pat Travers is rail-thin, and you’d never guess he’s 54 years old. Jamison is easier to spot, and seemed to fancy himself the headliner (he was the only one of the artists who had T-shirts for sale) even though the performers all play together in various combinations. The backing band included 80 percent of the current edition of Orleans—and the last number they did in the main part of the show was “Still the One,” with everybody on stage, Jamison singing harmony, Bouchard wailing away on guitar, and Travers providing a bass vocal line at one point. All in all, it was better than last year’s show.

I’ve got no time for an extensive post this morning because I’m on the radio all day—a midday shift on The Lake and the afternoon show on Magic 98. Check in tomorrow for a diary of the day.
