We interrupt your weekend for this reminder that the Big 89 Rewind is going on again today at WLS in Chicago, with classic jocks back on the job for one day only. You can hear it here. Davewillieradio has some of this morning’s Larry Lujack/Tommy Edwards show here. If I had to guess, Willie will probably have more from the Rewind later today or tomorrow, which is a good thing—WLS didn’t do a particularly good job of making highlights available after last year.
In case you missed it earlier this weekend, I wrote about Bob Dylan over at WNEW.com. Read it here. Also worth a look: Chris Clancy imagines how the Beatles’ White Album might look as a single disc.
We now return to the weekend, already in progress.

Larry Lujack and Tommy Edwards are ALWAYS funny together, sometimes they don’t even have to say anything and they can make you laugh. John “Records” Landecker was also very funny. At the end of his show, he said to Jeff Davis that he has a lot of pent-up energy when the show starts, a sort of adrenaline rush, that wears off by the time the show ends…or he he put it, “the Hindenburg deflating.” Jeff Davis replied, “kinda like sex.”
I hope they repeat the Big 89 Rewind on July 4th, like they did last year. I missed hearing Fred Winston and only caught a small part of Bill Bailey. Of course, I can also listen to the podcasts.,
All I managed to catch was a couple of hours of Bailey, who was pretty ragged but still has great pipes. He told some great stories about stuff that happened after hours at WLS (he and Landecker were on back to back at night).
