Because I’m lacking inspiration today, here’s a handful of March 6 birthdays:
Mary Wilson of the Supremes is 64. She was the only member of the group to remain part of it from its founding in 1959 to its dissolution in 1977. Since 1983, when she was elbowed out of the way by Diana Ross during the Motown 25 special, she’s frequently taken pokes at Ross’s ego, often referring to her as “Diane,” her actual given name.
Kiki Dee and David Gilmour are both 61. Dee’s biggest solo hit was “I’ve Got the Music in Me” in 1974, although she’s best known for being Elton John’s duet partner on his biggest hit, “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” two years later. She also partnered with Elton on his 1991 Duets album—a much-underrated album in the Elton catalog—on “True Love,” famously recorded in the 50s by Bing Crosby and Grace Kelly. Apart from playing guitar in Pink Floyd, Gilmour is a pilot and collector of vintage airplanes.
Suzanne Crough, who played Tracy, tambourine player in the Partridge Family, is 45. She was seven when the series premiered, and told an interviewer recently that she still has the multicolored tambourine she “played” on the show.
Basketball star Shaquille O’Neal is 36. He released rap albums in 1993, 1994, 1996, and 1998 because he could.

Gilmore also had at least one solo album, self titled, in 1978. An ok album with a very good song, “Short and Sweet” on it.
