I became a big Who fan in high school, and "Tommy" became my go-to movie whenever I broke up with a girl, or she broke up with me: I knew that the one cure for my blues would be a movie that was so awful and absurd that I wouldn't be able to stop myself from laughing.

Here's what I find most interesting about the soundtrack, and this is really pertaining to the music, not the vocals: the instrumental sections represent exactly what you would get if you combined "Tommy" and "Quadrophenia" into one product. Pete was deep into his love affair with synthesizers, which were absent from the original recording. Also, that's not always Keith on drums - I believe Kenney Jones plays on a number of tracks, which is kind of eerie.

But yes, the vocals, by and large, suck. Daltrey sounds way more assured (he had finally found his voice), and I think Townshend sounds great as well (especially love his bluesier vocal on "Sally Simpson"), but the rest are pretty abysmal.
